Head of Business Development & Acquisition

BioGaia is a world leader in probiotic research and development. We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Head of Business Development & Acquisitions to join BioGaia’s team. This person will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and will play a key role in the strategic growth and development of BioGaia, overseeing acquisitions, licensing, and partnerships. The role will require deep knowledge of the probiotic industry, experience in acquisitions, and the ability to work collaboratively with the finance team, business analysts, the R&D team, the Commercial team, and other internal stakeholders.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Lead the identification, evaluation, and execution of strategic business development opportunities, including acquisitions, licensing, and partnerships.
  • Take responsibility for the full M&A lifecycle, from sourcing potential acquisition targets to conducting due diligence, valuation, negotiating terms, and overseeing integration.
  • Work closely with the Finance team, business analysts, and IP team to assess new business opportunities, financial performance, valuation, and overall strategic fit.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement licensing and technology transfer strategies in line with the company’s growth objectives.
  • Provide strategic insights to the CEO and leadership team on industry trends, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination between teams to support business development efforts.
  • Drive the strategic development of BioGaia in the probiotic space and enhance the company’s market position through new business opportunities.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the probiotic industry, market landscape, and competitive dynamics.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in business development and M&A (key focus on the acquisition experience) within the probiotic or related healthcare industries.
  • Strong track record of successfully executing the acquisitions involved in, including due diligence, negotiations, valuation, and integration processes.
  • Experience with licensing technology and related commercial arrangements.
  • Experience working in small to medium-sized companies, preferably with an international scope.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with senior leaders and external partners.
  • A hands-on, proactive approach to driving business growth and managing complex projects.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate business opportunities, financial models, and strategic fit.
  • Deep understanding of the probiotic industry and the broader health and wellness landscape is strongly preferred.
