Letter from Peter Rothschild: Passing the Baton After 35 Years

Dear Shareholders, Partners, and Friends of BioGaia,

Since founding BioGaia with Jan Annwall in 1990, I have had the privilege of leading this company in various capacities over the decades – sometimes from the front as CEO or Chairman, sometimes from behind the scenes – but always with the same unwavering passion for our mission: provide the world with probiotics that have clinically proven positive effects on health and well-being.

From those humble beginnings, BioGaia has grown into a pioneering global company applying one of the world’s most documented probiotic bacteria, Limosilactobacillus reuteri, to improve human health. What began as an ambitious idea to replace antibiotics in animal health has become a global human health movement, with millions of people now using our products to live healthier lives. Along the way, we have built one of the strongest scientific networks in our field, collaborating with universities, research institutions, and partners worldwide to conduct more than 270 published clinical trials across all ages.

Our journey was anything but ordinary. The Gaia hypothesis – that everything in universe is connected and interdependent – was not only the inspiration for our name but also our guiding compass. Over these years, we have expanded into new markets, created a robust portfolio of innovative products, and deepened our scientific expertise, all while living our values, “Do good and have fun.” None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our staff, the trust of our partners, and the loyalty of our shareholders.

Since BioGaia’s debut on the Stockholm Stock Exchange in 1998, our share price has surged by more than 1,000 percent. This remarkable growth reflects both the pioneering spirit that has defined our company from the start and the strong operational performance and strategic initiatives that continue to drive shareholder value.

Now, as I step down as Chairman of the Board, I am pleased that the shareholders’ meeting has elected Mauricio Graber as my successor. Mauricio, who I know since several years, brings extensive leadership experience in the global nutrition and health sectors, along with a deep understanding of science, innovation, and international markets. I have every confidence that he will guide BioGaia into its next exciting chapter with integrity, vision, and energy, together with our CEO, Theresa Agnew, and the new controlling shareholder, family owned Anatom Holdings, who already are long-term owners in a major ingredient company in Switzerland.

While I will no longer serve on the Board, my commitment to BioGaia and belief in its future remain as strong as ever. I will be an advisor to the new chairman during the coming year to ensure a transition as smooth as possible. The seeds that Jan and I planted 35 years ago have grown into something purposeful and thriving, and I look forward to watching the next generation of gardeners nurture this growth.

Thank you for the trust, collaboration, and support you have shown me throughout this remarkable journey. It has been the honor of my professional life to serve BioGaia since its founding.

Warm regards,
Peter Rothschild
Founder & Outgoing Chairman of the Board
